That's interesting about removable/fixed caps. And helpful. Thanks.
About the cap I have that you once had . . . Amazing how some items circulate! I'm very, very pleased with it. I don't know how long Bill had it before he sold it to me.
I wonder why so many KM visors have no maker marks, esp. compared to Heer and Luft caps. Perhaps KM personnel simply preferred govt-issued caps for some reason. I guess that makes your O.K.K-marked cap that much better!
Salty combat veteran visor hats just do NOT come any better than this baby. I love the Mickey Mouse emblem. The notches on the chinstrap are a record of enemy boats sunk.
And here is a photo of the hat's original owner. NOTE - He was promoted to Leutnant at sea and had metal "braid" pinned to the peak of his NCO hat. This metal braid , exactly copying the embroidered version was made by Assmann and is shown in their catalogue. This is one of the few verified examples of its use.
Cap is not mine by the way, but I'd give my right arm to own it. Better than any Knights Cross
What Roy said! Wow. That's incredible. What is that pinned to the band, just below and left of Mickey?
And Roy . . . I like your cap a ton. That's as "been there" as can be and still look so presentable. The original owner obviously took good care of it, even though he must have used it quite a bit, given the sweat stains and wear to the diamond. Great looking cap.
