    artillery crusher

I was going through the thread on Tropical visor caps and say a crusher that looks like one I own. Doing further research I found that the cap on the thread had been posted before. The hat was condemned as a fake. The hat I own is constructed differently.

I got the hat from a friend about 5 years ago. He picked it up in Germany many years before that. I'm sure he said the eagle was replaced by him. Maybe the wreath too, can't remember.

Is the hat original? Well I guess I'm going to find out.

Thanks for any comments in advance. WR Jim

3 You'll note some stitching below the bottom row of piping. It will become clear why in a future pic.

5 It appears the visor became loose at some time and was reattached.

Sorry Dipool,I don't like your hat.The insegna are put on postwar, the visor and the sweatband are both restitched, don't like also the pleats.
I w'd like close up of the green band ,from these pics is crudely sewn.
I could be wrong,I would like to hear Dave Kane thought ,he is the best in crusher, and also the others
                    Cheers

                      Hi Jim,

can you post a new pic of pic #6 but with the SB lifted? It seems that the left side of the lining is below the bottom border of the SB while the right side of the lining coincides perfectly with the SB border. Has the left side of the lining become loose?

Yes, by some it where condemned as a fake. Knowing it where a direct vet pick up in Germany, also knowing the person who picked it up, I belive it where 100% original.

Thanks for the interest. Here are some additional pics which might answer some questions. As far as the green band being crudely sewn, I think its okay. Heres a closeup of the sewing. Since the piping has been eaten by moths in certain areas the stitching is visible.

The sweatband was not totally removed. Heres a picture that shows the original sewing as well as the area where it was removed/re stitched to reattach the visor.
