That another myth no-one has ever explained or proved to me, where is it stated that the SS bevo trap with two rows of teeth is the first or early pattern ?
In my experience of veteran brought back examples, these SS M43 trap's with a single row of teeth seem to have made an appearance before the double row of teeth or may-be simultaneously. I may have missed some important finding on this but you certainly see more rolls of unused SS traps with two rows of teeth than you see single rows of teeth. Many of these un-issued rolls originate from allied soldiers who took them out of German factories/stores at the end of the war.
My feeling has always been that the single row of teeth is the first version and the second version with two rows was an improvement but they may in fact only be manufacturer's variation in production so I have no problem with a double row trap which is zig-zag stitched to a cap. I must also point out that in relation to the cap which started this thread on the estand that it has a tight zig-zag stitch but I have seen that on both good and bad.
Any-way, look forward to what others think, Chris
