SS Officer's Overseas Cap opinions

I received this cap in the mail today and am looking forward to any opinions or comments on it, especially in regards to the construction of the cap itself. I know the insignia is correct. This isn't exactly my field, although I'm interested in the stuff and hope this will add to my very small SS collection.

Doubts for me.

Hi Hans,

from the pics I find it odd that the cap appears spotless and mint but at the same time the insignia and soutache appear quite salty, especially the skull. Also I find the piping 'connection' unusual to be on the side of the cap (post #5).
