Thank you ALL for your honest replies. You know, I'm now a card carrying member of the "I got burned" club, and it honestly feels pretty lousy. Since I couldn't make the MAX show either Friday or Saturday, I thought I'd take my chance on Sunday. Actually, I walked out with a very nice Spanish Wound Badge from Weitz, then over to another table where I found this (as he put it) "officer grade" Luft cap. Well, after about 10 minutes of inspection, and $300.00 later, I walked out thinking I found a great cap for my collection.

In the end, I have learned a very, VERY valuable lesson. Know who I am buying from. And, get a name, etc. just incase the item isn't authentic. I did neither on this cap purchase, and I can only chalk it up as a great learning experience.

At least, the eagle looks good. I think?

EVERYBODY here,on this forum is a "member" of the " I got burned club" .
All collectors do get burned sooner or later...
I'm collecting luftwaffe headgear for about 12 years now and I "burned"myself last year when I bougth a Luftwaffe tropical pith helmet....the eagle was a fake.

I know it's a hard feeling,but please believe me,every single person here on this forum knows this feeling of getting burned.
Everybody is carrying the card Ray...

I hope you will meet the seller again,and that he wants to give back your monney!
