Hi Nick, I'll get the camera out again on Monday. The other marking is the owners name I believe and it is hand applied in super old style script.

I will post pics of my other mint visor in a few days, the MINT General Staff with silver cap cords shown in G. Wilkins Book. The cap is the Georg Kurz distributor marked Clemens Wagner.

Looks like the owner’s name printed on there. That thing needs to be in a visor museum.

oops we posted at the same time

Hi Again Nick, Clive has saved me having to handle the cap again for the name shot.

I have created a small Museum in a cupboard. I have this cap tucked away, away from light, moisture and insects. It must look this good in another 60 years, it is my life's task, to keep it such.

Not that you will but if you ever sell it please let me know. I would pay just about anything to have that example in my collection.

Hat is now for sale on Regimentals--somehow it lost its case during the ensuing 8 years.

BTW, whatever happened to JT (sturmbannfuhrer)?

                              The officer's name is Schlichte.:

GERMAN THIRD REICH TRIPLE EREL MARKED INFANTRY OFFICERS VISOR CAP.
Probably the finest infantry officers visor cap we have ever had, this large size, possibly 59cm high saddle shaped army infantry officers visor cap is constructed in the most beautiful doe skin material. Standard army colour, which contrasts beautifully against the white waffenfarbe that surrounds the crown and the upper and lower sections of the dark bottle green wool centre band. The Armed Forces national eagle and the wreath cockade below are totally original to the cap and match perfectly with frosted highlights on the tips of the acorns of the wreath and the edges of the wings of the eagle and the wreath surrounding the swastika. The central cockade is the classic Erel vented cockade, minor loss of finish to the edge of that cockade. The cap is fitted with standard officers cap cords with twin side pebbled buttons. Standard fibre peak that is mid tan colour to the interior. There are two small areas of moth tracking to the crown, one at the very high point of the saddle shape and another at the very rear close to the back seam. To the interior the leather sweat band has beautiful unworn mid tan colour, which is Erel silver blocked on one side and to the opposite side on the interior liner band in stamped indelible ink the word ‘GCHLISHTE’. The remainder of the interior of the cap is fully lined in beautiful gold silk. To the centre celluloid lozenge, which is absolutely complete and undamaged, it is silver blocked below with the ‘Erel Sonderklasse’ trademark and stitched to the exterior of the celluloid lozenge is the ‘Erel Stirnschutz’ paper proof label. The cap also has all of its original paper packing from its retailer still intact between the leather sweat band and the main body of the cap. A superb example

                              Code: 63048 Price: 1750.00 GBP

If I recall right, it was selling for $3000+ back then.
