Hi Carlo, can you see yellow in the top piping further down inside the cap?

Hi Carlo, Bill Shea has it's tween right now on his site.

I can not answer you why the different colors of the wool but the machine stitching of the liner it's not a problem since it has been used, not very often though. The inside over all looks fine. I quess looking Bill's cap and yours this could be a trait of the particulat manufacturer or perhaps this batch of visors ended up like that for a reason we will never know.

I saw that Vogel cap on Bill's site and thought it looked very unique and now this one. I guess it's a manufacturer thing. As for the piping, unlike Bill's cap (whose piping matches), I'm at a total loss. The only questions would be. Is the top piping sewn in nice and tight? Are there any visible stitching on the inside of the cap liner where the top piping is?

I like your hat--my theory is that the crown piping was made from a different batch than the 2 rings on the band, and used a different dye, which has faded not due to sunlight, but to age. I have a police visor which exhibited uniform fading of the green piping to a very, very pale shade. The dyes are vegetable based, and can fade. Check the color of the thread that joins the crown piping--if it is lemon-yellow, it would explain that yours just age-faded.

& if you could, please take a picture of the piping where it buts together.

Bongiorno, Carlo! Consider me stumped! I can't explain it, unless the threads used for the butting also faded. I believe the hat is 100% original, its just one of those oddities we can only theorize about....
