Vented cockades on non-Erels

All:

It's my understanding that Erel was the firm that owned the patent for the vented cockade setup commonly seen on their visors. Furthermore, many / most collectors believe that Erel is the only hat that should have these vented cockades on them. I personally believe that these cockades were put on other maker's caps during the war but would like to get the opionions of others. Specifically:

1. Did other cap makers used vented cockades on their visor caps?
2. If yes, what are some of the makers seen to use this setup?

To answer your question in one word, no! No other maker to my knowledge used a vented cockade. I have seen them on occasion on other visors. I can only guess they were replaced during the period because one may have broke off or by collectors restoring a visor. I definitely do not think any other maker would have used them since Erel had the produced for their visors, which would be the only one that would need one.

Funny you should ask...

Currently a very nice, non-Erel visor cap with a ventilated cockade on the e-stand.

Cap looks nice but why would anyother company use a vented cockade? No reason for the system. I would say replaced cockade at sometime. Still nice though.
