exotic officer's "schiffchen"-overseas cap

I took this picture last December at the La Gleize Museum, while visiting the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) commemorative activities.
Note the exotic officer's M38 Infantry "schiffchen"(overseas) cap displayed in the museum

I was wondering the other day why we don't see many caps made from leather. Seems a perfect material for the field. Do we know anyone working in his Museum? would love to see more shots of this one.

I don't know if the OS cap is period or not, but in general I do not believe even collectivly we collectors are aware of all of the period varaitions of ANY type of 3rd reich item. I AGREE! That is why I am very open minded! And unlike text book examples, custom made pieces (and foreign made) are often more affordable because of the "risk" factor... is it real or not? This cap certainly is!
