Ben,
The sound Roadrunners make can best be describes a two solid glass balls striking each other and sounding like the resulting vibrations of the glass. Road runners just dragged a baby rabbit out of a nest. I tried to save the rabbit, but it was already dead from pearcing of the beak. The desert is a hard place to survive. Everything either wants to eat you or stick you (the many types of cacti and vegitation). However, there is one oasis, just a few feet from the door! And, every creature that can fly, crawl, or jump across the wall wants to stop by and have a drink.
I won't even go into the Javalina, the 100 plus pound wild boars that are here in abundance. Hence, the wall! Oh, did I mention the scorpions, tatantulas, gila monsters and other nasty critters. I have seen more black widow spiders and brown recluse spiders in the last 3 years than in the previous 55 years.
But, we don't have mosquitos! All the bats must have done them in!
