    Post Your DRB Visors!

OK, I haven't been seeing enough civil visors ( ), so I guess I'll have to pick up the slack. Presented for your review is the late-war Reichsbahn visor, which has some interesting characteristics, which I will comment upon as I go--see if you can guess why I had to have this cap.

Some of these have the zinc-metal wings, which, more often than not, have faded to gray. This one has the less common bevo-wings.
The other anomaly is the Political adler--a gold finish is correct, but there is a specific eagle that was to be used--a typical example of the manufacturer using whatever was at hand. (I have also seen them with the 36-41 little eagle):

What also distinguishes this cap from its early/mid-war brethern is that it lacks a samt (velvet) band--the manufacturer used a black silk-rayon ribbon type of material:

Remember that thread I started (that only Kreager bothered to comment upon) about TR hats w/o 3 rings of piping? Well, Coastal Artillery is one, but Reichsbahn is the other--to this day I don't know why they stopped with the bottom row of piping late in the war:

Well, you probably figured out one reason why I had to have it--its a stonemint "depot queen." The hat was never issued, and no one has ever pulled down the sweatband, as it is Alkor, as there are no cracks in it--so this will have to serve as my "under the hood" shot:

Well, this gives away the second reason I had to have it--its a Pekuro!
Note the lack of a sweatdiamond and the stirndruckfrei system, which is characteristic of all late-war Pekuros, be they EM or Officer:

The top panel is standard wasserdicht. Like most EM/NCO Pekuros, there are no side linings, and the pasteboard is exposed:

Now, continuing the DRB theme, here are my "holy grails" of the DRB, which are owned by another member of the forum, WVD-Paris--Direktor (General)-rank caps:

Here is a zinc-winged DRB--note the lack of the bottom piping on this one as well:

Another bevo-winged similar to mine--this one has the correct-style eagle:

This one also lacks the bottom piping and the velvet band, but I don't believe this is a Pekuro--at least it wasn't labeled as such:
