    Gentlemen:

After what seems an eternity, my friend was able to secure additional pics via "mail". I hope they help. There is a tear in the lining, upper right corner I believe. The "green material" in earlier shots was a protective covering from what I'm told.

Anyway, my friend is going to try and meet with the seller and take more shots with his digital camera so we can post many shots of this cap.

Any and all opinions are welcomed. As mentioned before, visor caps are not my area of expertise so we thank everyone for their help. Neither my friend nor I have handled this cap.

NOTE: There's quite a story (the A-SS Officer who wore this cap, etc) on this cap but we'll save that for later.

    Best,

    Larry F.

I am still concerned about this cap. Is the sweatband Alkor? Any chance of an "under the hood" shot? Is there an RZM tag? Futher, the heavy Trikot for a generals cap is also disconcerting, but even more so, the wavy velvet band--this occurs (IMHO) only when it got wet, or the band was re-applied.

Lets see what the others think based on these new pics....

I'm in agreement with the rest. That band was the first thing that poped out at me too. I would pass on this one.

The wavy band could also result from the pasteboard having cracked- it needs further examination...

Looks like it might have a chance. Insignia is good I think but better pics please!

                SS Visor

I examined this cap at the SOS and found nothing wrong with it other than it has been a little banged around and could have been in a damp environment at one time. The insignia is real, the swaet diamond is celluloid and the cap is very light weight. Just a side note the seller of this cap had a very nice Allgemeine SS Officers visor that a good friend of mine purchased. Again I handled this cap and Feel it is an original cap. There is an interesting story as to how it was aquired. The hat was not being given away either, priced around $20 grand if I remember correctly.

The logo was period, but IMO this one resembles closely an HMH work...

                  best regards

I know it's probably hypocritical to say this after what I wrote on the SS forum a few moments ago but if it's good enough for Kevin after he's checked it out hands on, it's good enough for me.

Plus, I did like it already anyway! sorry Kev!!!

                      Bob,
Do either of your caps with this logo have the RZM tag? If so what is the hersteller number? I am always interested in putting together makers with generic logos.
                      Thanks,
                      Derek

Good enough for me. You know I might have looked at this one too. Was it under glass on the table?

I am under the impression Derek has quite a library of Hersteller #s; please advise #207. Else, I am skeptical of such generic labels as Deutsche Industrie, not the sort of mark one wants on this sort of cap, not typical in my experience.

Thanks to everyone who has commented on this cap and the open discussion surrounding it. My friend and I really appreciate this generosity. He is going to get as many pics as he can with his digital camera hopefully sooner rather than later. As he gets them to me, I will post.

Yes, the price is pretty steep so he wants to make sure this is the "real deal".

Thanks again and more to follow as he gets more pictures.

                                Best,

                                Larry F.
