WH NCO Visor Authenticity Opinions Needed

      Who said buring cello will leave no residue? It will ball up just like plastic. Go burn a film negitive it is cello.

        Some sweatdiamonds go up in a flash with no residue left behind this is true but yes some are made of a different type of material and they burn slower and leave behind residue. I have found that in Enlisted issue caps the celluloid goes up in a flash. Now mind you I do not go out cutting all the diamonds out of my caps needlessly but if the diamond is broken and falling apart I sometimes just cut a tiny piece and do this test. Try it its FUN!!

          I have one at home with just about 15% of the sheild left. What is another 5% gone? I will try it tonight.

            Just cut a tiny piece and hold it with tweezers, that is all you need. You will see what I am talking about.

                If celluloid it just dissappears....gone

                But is correct, there is also another typpe of material which is closer to negative film. It will burn to a hard lump, but one which is crushable with not to much force. It will end up like ashes. If plastic, it will be a piece left which is stonehard and not crushable at all with normal force.

                    The results are in. Here is a piece of the thinner cello form a Clemens Wagner. It did ignite pretty quick but formed a hard black ball.

                      Was that an issue cap or private purchase cap? That piece you show melted. The really thin yellow celluloid goes up in a flash and nothing is left.

                        It is the thin cello like a contract cap but from a private purchase. It came from this lid.

                        Just a side note if anyone is keeping score. The sweatband was replaced. (not by me)
