Luftwaffe cap eagles come in all kinds of odd designs. We need to document more of them here as we have done with Luftwaffe breast eagles. This eagle may be good, however, it has some details which worry me. Were I offered it, I think I would pass.
        Regards,
        John

I agree with John. I tried to find a close example before I made an opinion, but that buzzard looking head seems a bit off and I couldn't match it up with any I looked at. You're right there are a bunch of different designs for the cap eagle.

I agree Kreager. Also, the foot holding the swas looks deformed and unlike any foot I have seen on a good bird.

I brought this thread back up to show some authentic examples.

              ...And there we've it...

Francois thinks it's a good one...and John has some doubts..

I agree with both people, but I vote good one.

At first sight I do like the eagle, I like the thread, backing and backside of the eagle..., but I do agree with John that this eagle looks a bit odd, so, be careful.
On the other side, like he says, there're many, many patterns and there are many fakes, poor ones and the ones which will fool even the advanced collectors..and they still are improving the techniques.
I think I see what John means..., odd neck and funny raised claw..

This needs some investigation..., work for me to do...
              Laterrr..

              Jos.

                    I eagle-eyed through my scans etc,took some time ..
Think we're lucky..,found a portrait pic with the same eagle IMO.
To me, this is the best part of the hobby, finding and adding some "evidence" now and then.

John, how does this one compare ?
Take a look at the dent in the throath, the claws and even the wing with the small open spaces between the feathers..

                    To me it's a match..

                    Jos.

IMO you got a match Jos..
The depth in the upper side of the wings and in the belly to the troath are some other similaritys.

                      Well done Jos...

                      Cheers

As usual, excellent work cousin! Very close but I still have some doubts. In your period photo it appear to me that the talons holding with swas are more defined and are different from boyou's eagle's foot.

I believe you deserve a special WA award for all the work you contribute Jos!

I bought some eagles from e-stand from a member from Canada. I received them today! Look at this one!

Nice eagle, but not like the one that began this thread.
