    Luftwaffe Cap Eagles

Picked this eagle up at the Raleigh show yesterday from an insignia dealer. He is one of the best militaria dealers there is, his stock numbers in the thousands and every piece is authentic!

Any guesses on why this common cap eagle was important to me?

The way of stitch it on cap is very unusual, isnt'it ? Very interesting.

Sorry, no Billbert, Luft76 is correct. Luftwaffe caps with straight stitched machine eagles are scarce, and this is the first removed example I have ever seen. If fact, how many collectors out there have caps with straight stitched eagles?

Not many I would imagine John! very nice bird.
PS. Could you possibly pm me the details of this insignia dealer? I'm looking for a few hard to find pieces and I've exhausted every avenue I know of.

          Cheers
          Ben

            Cap

I know this is a different type of cap, but it's straight stitched.

            Regards,

Nice eagle John, but why is there another row of stitching above the left wing ?

              Regards,
              Steve

I have two M43 caps that have trapezoids that are single stiched. If you want photos I can post a few up.

Ben, I do not have his name or address. I know him by sight, and always talk with him, but I am embarrased to say that cannot remember his name. I promise that I will try and find this info for you asap.

Steve, why do you think there is another row of stitching?

From the pic I can also see a couple of 3..,4 stitches close next to the upper outside of the cloth..( right wing )..,no ?

                              Hé,hééé...,did I miss something..!?!..,you seem to know more than I do..,don't mix people,John..

The stitching..,I don't know, haven't seen the eagle on the back..,I first thought the stitching around the eagle was some kind of trim line and the actually stitching were the few remains at the outside..,it's funny to see 2 rows of stitching,'cause that's what it looks like from the pic..

                              Other option: double security..

                              Jos.
