This hat is the only example known to me. It is a gray piped gray SS officer's visor cap indicating a man attached to the Stab der Reichsfuhrer S S.

I will give it a try. However, either I or my camera or a combination of both do not do a very good job with close ups. If they come out unclear, there will be no sense posting them. However, I will give it a shot.

Bob,
You should have a setting on your camera somewhere that will allow you to adjust the aperture for "close-up" photography - try finding this setting and you will be amazed at the better picture quality! Utilizing more natural daylight will also greatly improve your images . .
Most digital cameras use a symbol that looks like a flower (at least Nikon does) for indicating the "close-up" photography setting.
Hope this will help you!
Brad

Your memory of the liner is correct. It is cross stiched in diamond patterns similar to the linings found on old Austro Hungarian military garments. The hat is in excellent shape and the lining has not seperated from the stiffener so an image is not possible. An old friend and former colleague at this Forum also has a Heer infantry officer's cap of identical design of Olympia Klasse. A few months back, another friend purchased a Luftwaffe officer with the identical marking with a grouping of veteran material directly from a vet's family.
