Gray Piped S S Officer Visor Cap

This hat is the only example known to me. It is a gray piped gray SS officer's visor cap indicating a man attached to the Stab der Reichsfuhrer S S.

          Bob,

Can you post some better images of the insignia? Primarily the eagle.

          Thanks,

          Brad

            Brad-
I will give it a try. However, either I or my camera or a combination of both do not do a very good job with close ups. If they come out unclear, there will be no sense posting them. However, I will give it a shot.

              Bob,

You should have a setting on your camera somewhere that will allow you to adjust the aperture for "close-up" photography - try finding this setting and you will be amazed at the better picture quality! Utilizing more natural daylight will also greatly improve your images . .

Most digital cameras use a symbol that looks like a flower (at least Nikon does) for indicating the "close-up" photography setting.

              Hope this will help you!

              Brad

                Bob,
Is that a vent hole I can see through one of the skull's eyes? Beautiful cap...

                Cheers,
                Arran.

Bob that is a great visor. I am not sure who the actual haberdasher is but it is the same maker who makes the “Olympia” visors. The mark is about as rare as the cap. Some of the stuff you have been posing lately is beyond rare. Thanks for all this chills and thrills.

That particular 'form' of interior is very commonly found in post war caps...

Bob, will you flip that sweatband and let's have a gander?
                        Regards,
                        Dave

no , that is not a vent hole.

I have handled a visor from the same maker before. It was a Heer Inf in the Olympia Klasse. From what I remember the lining was ribbed. It had a real weird peak stiffener. If I seen the inside front of this one I can tell you in two seconds if it is the same or similar.

                              Nick-
Your memory of the liner is correct. It is cross stiched in diamond patterns similar to the linings found on old Austro Hungarian military garments. The hat is in excellent shape and the lining has not seperated from the stiffener so an image is not possible. An old friend and former colleague at this Forum also has a Heer infantry officer's cap of identical design of Olympia Klasse. A few months back, another friend purchased a Luftwaffe officer with the identical marking with a grouping of veteran material directly from a vet's family.
