          I'd like to see a picture, or even two, of this unknown DDR hat.

          Regards,

            Stonemint,

            Here is a label from an early, post war, BVG hat that arrived yesterday. Do you know if the maker made hats during the war?

            Regards,

            Gordon

                  Hallo Gordon

                  WW2 period contract caps showed this inscription:
                  CARL HALFAR/UNIFORM-MUTZENFABRIK/BERLIN N.20/Prinzenallee 74/= size no. =/ Lieferjahr .... (not always), all in block fonts.

                  I abstain myself from visors sold through the Verkaufs Abteilung der LW, because not of interest here.

                  The post-war production had a label with a sort of broken-ring and the words Ce-Ha Prima within (diagonally, in italics);
                  below Carl Halfar/Mutzenfabrik/BERLIN N 20 or BERLIN 65 (on a side-pointed label)/Prinzenallee 74, printed, respectively, on a stiff or smooth diamond.

                  best regards

                      Gordon--here is the Ahlers postwar Feurwehr cap--it does not conform to TR specs, both by logo, and the lack of a velvet band--it looks like someone on Ebay tried to nazify it (when it has more value as an early DDR piece, especially given the rarity of an Ahlers hat postwar--there has to be very few around.)

                      Ahlers produced some very high-end visors during the TR era.

                        Full shot of interior--both the logo and the interior are very spartan compared to TR products.

                          Chris,

                          Thanks for the photos and the info. Too bad someone tried to turn it into something that it wasn't. That has been going on for a while but I think that you will see the trend changing as the price for early DDR hats has really gone up in the last year.

                          Cheers,

                          Gordon
