yes, this cap is a standard cap not a private purchase made by the III Reich army ,at the beginning war, and it's right, this cap was marqued under the sweatband by a period stamp with the name of the taylor cap or regiment, this cap is marqued 1939 period
It would never have been made by the army itself - it would have been made under government contract by any number of various private companies and co-ops. Also, there's no reason why the regiment stamp would appear on this cap - the regiment only appears on private purchase caps, purchased by non-officers, to show that the privately purchased cap has been approved as being up to standards by the regiment; government-purchased caps are assumed to be up to those standards already, and so don't have to be approved (nor do caps purchased by officers, it being assumed that they know what to buy, unlike the non-officer morons).

Still, would like to see that stamp and the close up of the piping.

Yes Lignemaginot. It's exactly that. I desire see close up of piping, specially where arrow show, for see if piping has not been colored.
I equally agree with the fact, that stamp were normally found under sweatband Private cap. For the simple fact that this stamp, authorize owner to wear Private cap, and be conform with regulation.
Wolften, can you show pictures of the stamp on your Jager cap please?
