I am new to belts and buckles, so I appreciate some advice. I received this belt and buckle from a friend who dug it out of a coffee can in his garage. Can you help me with a few pieces of information and advice:
1. I have seen that most members will not advise cleaning the belt or buckle. But I am concerned about stopping any further rust on the buckle, and insuring that the leather does not further dry out and crack. How should I handle this?
2. I will attach photos of the maker's mark on the belt and on the buckle tab. Can someone help me identify them?
3. Am I correct in assuming that the stamp "J.R. 126" on the belt refers to Jager Regiment 126?
Thanks,
Dave
