It might be period but IMO is Not original SS belt. Some para-military belt dyed black post-war with added SS markings.

I did not say the "belt" was fake/reproduction. I said it is not built like a SS leather belt should be. Other than the marking, most SS leather belts had some particuliar features. None of those features are on the shown example. Then there is the marking which is related more to the known fake SS 48/38 RZM marking than to the genuine known SS 48/38 RZM marking. As previousely said, there is genuine SS leather belts marked SS 48/38 RZM. But there is a fake SS 48/38 SS marking which is similar but not the same as the original. Fakers never had to reproduce everything. They just have an handy stamp and voilĂ ! A nice original $200 DRK leather belt becomes a marvelous SS belt at $1500 or more. A fake SS leather belt.
By the way, the known original SS 48/38 RZM I screened have the distinctive feature I was talking about. Just for your information.
But all was possible with the 3rd Reich...Jean Pierre Redeuilh

I replied directly without bothering to check again everything from the begining. But I was indeed talking about 48/39.Jean Pierre Redeuilh

Comparison
Here is a comparison of what I think is a known original on the left. I like it too. The marking seems very similar to the subject belt. The one on the left is dated 1937, the one on the right is 1939. A different rounded method was used on the tab for the 37 version. Did this change sometime in 39?Attached Files

I do not see anything wrong with your 48/37. Could you please shown also the other side of your belt?
Of course we can expect some differences between years, and even differences within the same year.
Once again, can you please show the other side?Jean Pierre Redeuilh

The 37 dated belt is an example from a previous thread. It is not mine.
