    HJ M4/22 Injection molded..Please Help

Hello...I am new to the group and pretty new to collecting german buckles...I have read a few things here and there stating that any M4/22 injection molded buckles were fake , as this manufacturer (CTD) never produced these...Is this true, or were there period made buckles and also newly made repros???? please let me hear your thoughts...thank you Chad Williams

    Hello Chad,

it is not correct, that all moulded M4/22 are fakes.
    Here is the story:
I had a nice talk with somebody who worked at C.T.Dicke in the last years of the war. He told me that Dicke had no moulding machine during that time. I have similar informations from Assmann & Overhoff.

It is always interesting to listen to people who lived during that time, but not everything is 100% correct. Maybe he forgot about it, or he saw never a moulding machine because it was only a very small part of the production.
There are also other idea's, like a "third party" maker...

What ever, I had three different variants of moulded M4/22 buckles in my collection. I'm sure they were all original!

      Thanks for the info

Christian...thank you for the info...I have had a few of these buckles, some mint and others well used, and after finding that info I got a little scared that all of the ones that I had were repros....but none of the normal indicators of a repro were present so I wanted to get another opinion...thanks again...Chad

I am not sure if their is too much of a problem with molded HJs...I think most of the copies are stamped steel...even now complete with bogus rzm tags.

As far as I know only one M4/22 "molded" buckle has been faked. It is the Wehrmannshaften buckle and it is a very , very good copy. It is possible that they have also faked the HJ buckle as well but I am not sure of this.

How right you are about the SA-Wehrmannschaften buckle.

Mint to near mint examples are appearing on a regular basis.

I think however (hopefully) that Chad was making reference to the blind or smooth back moulded 22's HJ, rather than the die stamped buckles per se.

            Regards,

            David
