Here is one I forgot about, it is on display at a little store I am trying to help open with a couple of friends. Midstate Militaria in our small city.
It is on a tunic and i usually like to use good copies on tunics that are not behind glass. For some reason I always thought it was a reproduciton but if the 155/39 is good maybe this one is good.
SS 822/38 front... If this one is good, I am going to have to give a friend some money, I hope it is, but I had given up on all SS buckles many years ago. It just was not my main interest even though I have over 50 buckles, belts and Brocades in my collection, they are just buckles I have stuck back over the years. When SS buckles got so expensive every con man in the racket had them and I just gave up on them, just like German badges.
Thanks for the help guys
Your last 822/38 (made by Richard Sieper) is also original. So, you already have two variants on a total of 3 regarding this marking.
The other two non aluminum are fakes.
You can notice that your fake Overhoff bears the exact same design as your fake Assmann (155/40) and this should be plenty for suspicion. A maker of SS buckle always have his own design and so an Assmann SS buckle and an Overhoff SS buckle cannot share the exact same design.
You should have quit buying / collecting non aluminum SS buckles and continued to collect / buy the aluminum ones!
