Strange SS Buckle marked GZM

Hi Andrzej and welcome to the forum, thanks for the pics, very very interesting, does any other members own one of these buckles and know of where it came from? It would be interesting to try and build a profile and see where they came from? Could you post pics if you have?

If Tom Reid is correct, Rudolf Reich, Danzig (Gdansk in Polish). M4/112 & M1/131. He is so far the only author to have listed M4/112 as attributed to a maker.
"Profile" is already done since several years, Thanks to mainly Blazej and Mr.Piter who constantly provided ground dug pieces without question about their authenticity. Blazej is the head of the research and is working constantly to find out more about the factory. His GZM photographic collection is fabulous. Unfortunately before we had research in mind and this was already not so easy. Now something is telling me we are going to face greed on the top...

you were the only one really interested in this GZM subject when 1st pieces of GZM buckles occured here on the WAF. Your first call to me started our research . Now we know each other a lot of about GZM but still there are so many not answered questions....

You now have my full attention JP, I have been looking for quite a while now to find examples of Heer buckles by all the M4 makers, if proven that the M4/112 slot could be filled it would be great news. So indeed then the M1/131 SS buckle is in fact genuine, many thanks for the reply, it has answered alot of questions for me!

Obviously M4/112 was attributed. Some HJ buckles are there to attest it (even in this exact forum) but are also considered forgeries by most. Was Tom Reid information correct? This is another issue, even if most likely he was on good tracks. Unfortunately collecting and getting fame too quickly are much faster and easier than taking time to research. Then once greed takes over on the top there will be no much room left for research ...

There is no doubt the Gzm buckles are genuine.
A lot of them where ground dug near Gdansk (Danzig) but not only there.

There being made some researches now which will be helpfull to prove what GZM means.

Another question is M4/112 - now we are not sure 100% it was rudolf reich !!

As previously pointed out HJ's are NOT marked with M1/131 but with M4/112. If you cannot post photos of your, maybe you can finally reply to this post you started a while back:

Ive got a buckle just like that one that my grandfather brought home from Germany in 1945 along with a flag and some other trinkets. It is identical to that one. I posted it a few months ago here in this forum. My grandpa was a MP with the 84 ID during the bulge. I do not believe they are fake!

GZM M/131 Marked SS EM Belt Buckle

Yesterday, 06 May 09, I stumbled across the Wehrmacht-Awards.com site. It prompted me to do a search of the "GZM" mark because I have an old SS enlisted man's belt buckle with the "GZM" and "M1/131" markings. I was interested to read about the members in the Gdansk region who have found similar buckles buried in the ground.

Let me briefly explain that I was once an avid collector in my youth. I came into possession of this particular SS EM belt buckle when I was twelve years old, that was in 1963! I obtained it from an antique shop. I recall the proprietor of the shop telling me that she had purchased it from an army veteran who had served in Europe during WWII. If memory serves me correctly, I paid around $12 for this buckle in 1963. It is the only piece of my former collection I still retain because of the mystery surrounding the GZM M/131 markings on the inside of the buckle.

Jean Pierre was kind enough to respond to my inquiry regarding this buckle. I appreciate his time and information about the buckle. I sent two photos to him of it, perhaps he can post them on this thread for me as I am unable to do so.
