    Rodo wing flaw

This buckle appears to have a flaw between the first and second feathers on the right wing. I was just curious how common this is and if anyone else has a buckle with this same flaw.

The "flaw" appears as a line of extra metal where normally the line of the feathers is stamped into the buckle. Is this normal for all "type 1" Rodo's?

I have a near mint example that I purchased from a newspaper ad I ran in the 1980's with the same flaw.

Maybe it would be easier to ask if anyone has a "type 1" without this feature... Seems to be the norm from what I have seen so far.

perhaps it is more a die "characteristic" rather than a "flaw"

                            Hi Ric,
Thank you. What is the "1st" Rodo type and is it possible to have some pic of it ?
                            Cheers

I decided to refer to the "characteristic" as a flaw because to me that is what it appeared to be. It didn't look like it was supposed to be there.
I refer to the buckles with this characteristic as type 1 because of an article that I read on the GermanDagger.com forum by a well known collector of SS buckles...
