    Early period DLV/LW/RLB

Perhaps a general consensus now, that these buckles are early DLV, Luftwaffe and RLB associated, having been discussed before on the Forum.

Also, no significance toward the horizontal and down swept wing designs.

Here is a brace of down swept wing buckles that I thought may be of interest. Within the down swept wing "family", there would appear to be two distinct wing types. The buckles shown belong to the same family, although are different by primarily the eagles heads and also, the swastika surround.

    Regards,

    David

The other "style" of down swept wing eagle, that I thought may be of interest.

              Hi David

Is the buckles DLV/RLB made od aluminium with face plate affixed by four pins existed ?

              best regards

I have seen quite a few of the buckles that you mention, insofar as a pebbled aluminium box with the separate roundel (poor detail), attached by four pressed back lugs. In every instance, I have been most unhappy about the buckle and which I have treated with extreme caution. I think that they are fakes, although in theory, there is no reason why this type of construction should not exist.

                Do you have one ?

There is also a highly suspect, stamped or cast aluminium (integral bridge catch) model of this buckle in circulation.

                Regards,

                David

                  Hi David

This model of RLB/DLV belt buckle is for sale at allegro auctions site.

Take a look at pictures, what do You think?

really strange - I have never seen something like that

                  best regards

                    Thankyou for the images.

A buckle that I do not like, one little bit !

There is of course always the possibility that it is a very rare example of a two piece construction, although I would be very surprised if it was. I really do not like the outer edge of the roundel and also, the quality of the "half moon" to the reverse.

                    Regards,

                    David

                      hello,
i agree with david. i think too, that this buckle is a fake. i dont like the backside and the front is not much better. look at the circle, i had never seen a construction like this on twopiece buckles.
@david, nice buckles i had the rzm78 in my collection too.
                      greetings peter

This is the part of the buckle (the outer edge of the roundel), that I do not like. I cannot recall ever having seen any other separately attached roundel, with a similar finish.

                        Regards,

                        David

I did not think that this was a two piece roundel.

The "shadows" that you have highlighted, appear to be where perhaps the wrongly calibrated and over heavy die or tool, has actually penetrated the metal.

                            Regards,

                            David

                              Nice buckle David!!

I know that a lot of people think that most of these buckles were worn by the RLB, but I don't think so!

Today it is hard to find photos with RLB members wearing this buckle, but quite simple to find DLV/WL chaps.
I think that less than 5 % were worn by the RLB.
