    SS rotating swastika at Manions....

Congratulation to whomever I was bidding against!

Happy I already own one of theseā€¦ Was sold for 3054 $!!!!! Plus cost!!!!!

    http://www.manions.com/bid/bid.aspx?...725777&pic=267

Manions describe it as one out of two known; this is not true, as I know at least four of them including mine. They are all slightly different. (Catch position, prong assembly, ect...)

Hi Chris, You misunderstood; I did NOT buy the buckle. As I already have on in my collection, I did not go crazy on this one. I stopped when the price became ridiculous! Someone else paid the 3000+ dollars. It do increase the value of mine, that is for sureā€¦<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

I can also add few others known on the top of those 4 you mentionned. In the ones I know, even if I agree they all bear very minor differences, only one is totally different than the displayed example: Your (of course if you are reffering as "your" the one you sent me photos in the past). Just suffice to notice "your" does not have any rope behind the eagle's head. It's eagle design is also totally different from the above example. Similar, yes, but not at all the same.

In consequence IMHO the value of "your" remains unchanged since, so far, you are the only collector I know to have the one you have. Up to you to request the price you wish. There is no competition.

Note: For who asked me by private messages, I am not neither the highest bidder (I did not even bid on it since I am no longer browsing or buying anything from the source). Furthermore I would not have wait $3000 to leave my screen alone for this one ...

                Hi all,

Can someone please explain what these SS buckles
                with the rotated swastika are?

Were they the first SS buckle design and then they changed the design to the standard swastika later, (like a prototype), or were they made and used at
the same time with the regular type buckles, and if so, what was their purpose?

                Thank you very much!
                Chris

                    Hi Chris,

What or who made you believe Overhoff is the maker of any of those ?

I rather like and indeed, being most attracted by the theory put forward by Thomas Reid, that this quite unusual and early SS buckle was actually an attempt by an unknown (to myself at least) manufacturer, to thwart the stranglehold of Overhoff u. Cie.

Marc - may we have the benefit of images in relation to the "mobile" swastika SS buckle that you hold.

                      Regards,

                      David

Why are these buckles so rare? ...Is it because they were early trial patterns, or just that they had a limited production run and were not approved because of the angle of the swaz and, I speculate, then the same company continued to make SS ems but with the correct angle, J

I have no specific reason to believe that this buckle was made by Overhoff.
I was just wondering, because the beak resembles Overhoff's beak
from what little I can see, but of course the pictures are very small.
                          Anyway, I was just curious.

                          Thanks! Chris

By the way, has anyone ever seen an SS EM, (or officer's)
buckle that is marked only with "GES.GESCH." and an RZM?
I can't say for sure, but I want to say that I think I saw
a nickel SS EM buckle that was marked like this a few years ago.

                            Thanks! Chris
