He knows hardware and he is normally quite good with such items. With the exception of the replaced silver screw it's text book. A minor point to check further is the connection point of the cord to the housing. Normally there is a leather cover or thread reinforment to protect the cord at that point. You should check whether there is any evidence of resoldering to replace the cord, but I think it's OK. As a dealer his price wasn't so bad either, so I think you did well

These are certainly good headphones but there is something I don't like on the rubber pads... Can you get more detailed pics of them? dismounted...? Perhaps it's because of the photo, but the joint of the rubber looks clearer, I don't know if newly cut.

Nick , Me6_130 thanks again by yours opinions. The headphones not has arrived still. It must take several days. When I will get them I try post any picture of the rubber pads dismounted. Looks for my also original.

I hope this one to be successful. The price that I have paid for them is 290€. I think that isn't very expensive. Also the dealer is of trust.

        Theo.

          Panzer Head Phones (KOPFHORER)

          Hello Nick

I have a set of these French Headsets and I wanted to use in my 222. Is the headphones the only original parts on the headset? Did the french replace the larger band and cord? Will they work on my radio like the original? I paid 200 DM in 2003 and I wanted to know if they were too incorrect for reenacting?

I guess they will work. Those post war modified sets normally have a larger size band. You can see this, because the ear pads are not pushed against each other, whereas original WW2 ones will have the spring band squashing the pads against each other.

              Thanks Nick
Yes they are wide than my other original set.

                Thanks Nick
They have the striped cord, the
french style connectors (As in the previous photos) and the plug is two prong. The Rubber Earpieces are pressed together as well. Inside they are stamped 1990/5.
Do you know why the French replaced the bands? So the head phones are the only original piece of the set? I wonder if you can get the brown style cord to replace the stripped one.

I was told they were French, but Carles thinks they may be Czech, and both countries employed German WW2 tanks after the war. I feel that these modified sets now have a history of their own and are worth preserving as they are instead of being modified back into a spec that never existed. If you must you can pick up a cheap set of Dfh. a, as they use the same cord and swap them out.

                    Thanks for the info

I will go over to Ciney and look for a set. I saw a bunch there in the fall. Sometimes find them at Kassel but the prices there are outrageous.
I will leave these alone. Thanks again

Careful with the ones at Ciney. Remember to take the capsule off the band and confirm that it's a Dfhb and not something else, because many I saw there were bogus. The leather reinforcement at the cord exit is a good sign. Try to stick to those with that leather.

                        Hello Kurt,

If you could post some pics of that headset iwould probably tell you what is original and what not.
