If they are replaced/fake, so are mine.

His photos aren't clearly focused on the cords, but this is how the French replaced cords look like. In some of his photos these black patterns can indeed be identified. Note also the replaced plug with prongs different from the original German issue.

Yes, I see; mine have no pattern just a solid color cloth.

Yours is OK, if it's the brown cloth covered cord. Also see how my French set has a looser headband, the way the pads don't touch each other? This is typical of the modification and I think they enlarged the band. German sets will have the rubber pads pressed into each other.

The French modifications are not fake, but those used on the large number of Panther tanks the they put into service post war. These came on the market around 2002. Also in the early 90s many mint original German sets still in factory boxes turned up also from France as you may recall. Here's a real FAKE they make in Japan that takes a modern earphone inside so you can use it for your IPOD, Iphone! Problem is they cost more than an original.

Gentlemen, please see the pic of a Czech headset and compare the cord to the one you say is French reworked. I believe those reworked are basically of Czech origin, as the first I saw (Beltring 2003) on hand of Czech chaps. I have also travelled to the Czech repoblic a couple of times and seen this kind of cord on many headphones there. The CZ army had 2 divisions of Panthers after the war, and is easy to imagine that the maintenance and replacement would be done with Cz produced cords.

The Czech Army was also equipped with Panzer IVs after the war, so they certainly were candiates for using modified German equipment in some quantity after the war. So you might be right. Anyway, we agree that these cords are not German and that's the point .
Thank you for a new view on the origins of these modified equipment.

Well, there are more spots that make me think those are fake/reworked headphones. Please compare the screws of the first headset to some I had: original German headsets have rounded head screws but these other (fake/reworked) have flat headed screws. See two different original sets of screws:

If you compare the screws on my headsets to those on the first ones, you will see that the paint on the first looks too new and metal is shiny under it. The crews are not well placed but the central one is a bit to the left . Something to do also, when identifying headsets, is removing the headphones from the arch to see if they are really 'Dfh. b' or other, as it is easy for fakers to reproduce the arch but using other headphones (Dfh.a, Dfh.f). In this moment I've got 6 headsets (more or less complete) plus 5 sets of throat micros at home. I would say that the plugs on headphones and micros on#1 and headset on #5 are all post war Cz replacement.

Yes, you are right about the screws being wrong, which I already mentioned in the original thread linked earlier. When they changed the headband I think they used news screws at the same time. The original reworks with the striped cords were Dfh.b, but were all resprayed with matte black paint to erase the German markings. I've owned more than 30 headsets, but the reworks are the only ones that exhibited these features.
Including the set that started this thread many so called Pz headsets are non Dfh.b. these days. Another set like this just sold in Sweden last week for big bucks. The headbands originally seen on the reworks must have been available in surplus. They are being mated with housings from cheaper headsets, and perhaps adding the rubber pads that surfaced a few years ago.

Thanks very much for all yours opinions. I think that now all us can identify an original panzer headset .

Here is the pictures for other headphone that I have finally adquired. The rubber pads are pressed into each other. The screw have rounded heads (except one). The cloth of the cords is dark brown without any pattern. The eardphones are marked as Dfh.b. 44 (without maker). And the headset has a small part of leather, to hold the cable near to the receiver

Please, what do you think about it. I only have these pictures of the dealer's site. Thanks in advance.
