          twin of mine

Here's a twin of my bike a smaller 250cc model, beautifully restored in Poland.
Remember these are 4 strokes and run way smoother than a noisy 350cc (2 stroke) DKW350!

            cooling ribs

This is a different bike, but same model a NSU 251.
Note cooling ribs lacking on the engine case (compare with previous image, post 49), this is typical for the war time 1943 and later models which used were produced with potmetal engine cases as opposed to aluminum which became rationed, because of a shortage, a crucial metal for aircraft production!
Note the engine case protection plate (skid plate) which bolts on to the bottom, is also typical of military NSU 251's!

              ribs

a block here with cooling ribs here, so this block is either prewar (civilian) or military made upto 1943. Bike is resored in military gray and come again with military protection (skid) plate.

                  2 seater

Even though Wehrmacht specifications stated that bikes with engine capacities under 350cc did not need a passenger saddle, it was done. Either field (unit) added or it was a requisitioned civilian bike which already came with the extra saddle...so you see both. My NSU has both saddles, like this period image sequence, an officer hitching a ride!

                      maintenance facility

Here are several NSU 251's being overhauled at an outside maintenance facility in Paris.
In the back (hoisted) a Wehrmacht (French made) "Citroen Traction Avant" staff car,
also being worked on... These are SS troops by the way.
