I think the halftrack in Lloyd's pictures is of a later type (a "C" or a "D")- the body is much larger and has a different shape; more troops can be transported in that one.

"Due to insufficient thin armor plate manufacturing capacity, in early 1939 contracts were awarded for the assembly of 305 ungepanzerte (unarmored) m.M.T.W. (Sd.Kfz.251). If the Wanne (bodies) were constructed out of 4 mm thick unhardened carbon steel, they would have been proof against lead bullets fired from 7,92 mm rifles and machineguns. Robert!

Dear Frank,
I should check if i still have the parts catalogues for the SdKfz 251 lying somewhere. I'm not home at this moment, but I think I sold them with a load of 251 parts to a French collector who has enough parts to assemble 3-4 SdKfz 251!
The reproduction parts lists can be bought at www.oldimobil.de"Wir Deutschen fürchten Gott und sonst nichts auf der Welt " BISMARCK

There was one about 1,5 years ago in England for 110 000 euros, which I beleived was to much at that time.
