    Panzers in Berlin

First id like to thank George and Seba for this new forum
And here is the reason for this thead: Does anybody have info about panzers in the battle of Berlin? I have heard that some königstigers actually fought in Berlin, is that a fact? And were there any other panzers left? I know quite a bit about the Panzertruppen, but this piece of information has so far escaped me.. Any information would be usefull

      Dear Blitz,
Late as it is,there were at least two tiger's operating in Berlin on or near the surrender date.At least one was serviceable for the attempted breakout of Berlin on the first of May.
I do have most of my reference book's to hand, but at this late hour I am unable to ascertain what armoured forces were at hand in the fall of Berlin.
I do know there was only two or three SDKFZ,s available to the chancellory for the breakout of the first of May.
Hopefully tomorrow I can find more details.
      Regards:Andrew

SS Heavy Tank Battalion 503 had 2 King Tigers in Berlin.

Division "Muchenberg" also had some Tiger I's.......how many I don't know.

              Pictures

In 'Tigers in Combat' Vol 11, (Wolfgang schneider- j.j, Fedorowicz), there are photos of Konigstiger in Berlin. Vol I & 11 are really comprehebsive, great illustrations, including a good few dozen colour plates which will get those modelmakers reaching out for another Tamiya kit. It worked for me !

                    Model Tigers

That kit's so good. Just completed another, with that excellent Cromwell zimmerit, very thin resin sheets. You simply remove the detail, lugs, hooks etc. and apply the new zimmerit. The new resin surface has all that detail mouded on, it really does look the part.
