    Hi to all,
Frank to me your badge is a later type as you have accepted. Some very interesting comments from Javier ! the first to apperar since the W.B. book regarding the dots and the two rivets and the vent. hole, as for the swastica being stepped? i thought this was characteristic to later issues, can any one confirm these points?

As previously stated requested no person has condemed the info in Hamelman book but he states,

    a) only one manufacturer
    b) a high swastica (1.5mm high)
    c) edges were sharply defined (90 degrees)
    d) swastica was flush with helmet surface
    e) badges were stamped??

Will be glad to hear any more comments on this subject speak soon Ashley

      Original 36

      Javier,

Just a quick question regarding what you term original badges with the stepped swastika and dots in a row etc..

On what basis do you say this, is it because this is a badge you obtained from a legion condor Soldier?

        This is getting interesting...

        Hi,

As I stated before, I´ve no documentation to prove my statements and they must be understood as a personal opinion. I´m not an expert in this area and if there´s one out there, please let us know.
I got all that points with conversations with other collectors and past threads.
So if someone got his badges directly from a veteran maybe he could post them here and help us to clarify theese points...

        Cheers,

        Javier.

I also read this subject with great interest whenever it arises, but I have ZERO expertise to add...

I am just haunted by having seen exactly ONE badge, in 35 years, that had the swastike stamped INTO the helmet. That is: it was BELOW the surface of the helmet on front, and 3-D on the BACK--the exact opposite of EVERY single other one I have ever seen...

Could THAT have been one of the actual "original 182"-- because I have NEVER seen another one? I still regret not buying it!

            Hi Rick,

I´ve never seen one also but if they were like that, i think it must be printed in any of the different award books around, and as far I know none of them mention that point.
I think I´ve seen a book with a reverse swastica in an Iron cross and they said that also the germans make mistakes.
I woudn´t trust any badge with such BIG errors...

I always look for your posts regarding the 1936 wb´s and if I remember well, I took the point of the stepped swastica from you in an old thread

            Regards,

            Javier.

                  Hi Rick,

Sorry, I screw up in this one it was Prosper, not you sorry

To Frank, is your badge a hollow back or is one of the ones with a soldered plate that make them look like a solid one?
I was looking at the archives and you made the same question when the other thread about the 1936 wb´s arise. Haven´t you find any info? If you´re unable to post pics, maybe you can compare your pin assembly to those on ek´s or something...

                  Cheers,

                  Javier.
