I just do not understand why someone would want to 'fake' tinnies? It is beyond me. Marvin

          Hello,

I saw the SS gautag munchen tinnie being sold as an original at a local show last weekend. The tinnie was an aged bronze.

              Hello Mike,

well as far as SS tinnies go I know i will never buy a fake because i will never buy any SS tinnies(or any SS items for that mater,in my personal opinion 99% is fake)as far as what to look for in that tinnie i dont know it was a good fake-aged bronze, pin looked fine to me,the only reason i knew it was a fake is because i saw it being sold as a fake in manions(and the dealer had 4 or 5 for sale at his table). The other fake tinnies i have seen looked very crude/ruff and were lacking good detail.the pins were crudely attached either with a crude crimping method like on the fake HJ stuart showed us or very sloppy soldering job like the fake HJ 33 i saw over the weekend(plus that one lacked good detail, everything looked rounded instead of having crisp deatails, sory its hard to explain without photos.Does anyone have a original one of the SS gautag Munchen tinnie that they had for a very long time? The other thing i was thinking is maybe a fantasy piece, someone adding SS runes to a gautag munchen tinnie??any SS tinnie collectors out there ,Gary??

                More Fakes

                Hello,

at a show i went to 2 weeks ago I saw the same dealer who was selling these fake SS tinnies at the last show-this time he had a box full-all looked brand new shiny pins on the back-some of these had the highlights and the SS runes handpainted white(nice touch!)I saw another FAKE SS tinnie this one was very poorly cast and appeared to be made of lead?somekind of rough cheap metal and painted(spray?) bronze-the sides were so rough and un-even it was BAD-the back had a gold color pin that I have never seen before on a tinnie-the deatils were very poor-he wanted $50 as it was an original!

                        Hello everyone,

The photo I posted in my last post here has the picture that I originaly posted on top of the thread(you cant see them cause my FTP server crashed-I was hosting my own photos-so when my server crashed it yanked down all the photos I had put up before(my first 100 posts!)This photo is of the tinnie I saw at the gunshow however this picture( the SS shutze tinnie ill have to find the pic and re-post it)and the other are from old manions catalogs and are being sold there as fake tinnies-I was not able to take pictures of the actual 2 fakes I saw because they were at a GUNSHOW-no cameras aloud period!one was the one I have pictured(he had LOTS of these!)the second was that crude-lead feeling tinnie that I have no photo of!so thats 3 FAKE SS tinnies total-2 I can provide photos of the fronts-the last was that crude one and you dont need a photo just common sense-it was very CRUDE-lacked detail-had the wrong style gold/brass colored pin/attachment-looked like it was spray painted -if you compared it to any other tinnie that you have you would see MAJOR differences-

                          FAKE SS shutze

                          Hello,

I found the pictureof the SS shutze tinnie-I have never seen this one for sale personally, but it was listed in a manions catalog from 2001.I If anyone else has any old manions catalogs from around 1999-2001 look in the back after the tinnies section there is sometimes a section of reproductions-ive seen these and a few other fakes-if anyone can find anymore in these catalogs id be interested in seeing them.
