    Chris,

This is the only time I've seen it mentioned, Angolia, "For Führer & Fatherland" Vol 2 Page 243. I've no info re authenticity though.

    Cheers

Here is a scan of the SA marine Badge from Angolia's, "For Führer & Fatherland" Vol 2. This is also the only place I have seen anything about this badge.

The SA marine was a fairly small contingent of the SA. It makes no sense to have introduced a special version of the sports badge just for them. If so, why not reiter, pioneer, nachrichten, etc. versions? After 45+ years of collecting, if such a piece existed, I am sure I would have encountered one somewhere. The existance of this badge is illogical. I, for one, doubt its existance.

Detlev shows one in his new book. Didn't they also have SA Marine daggers?

i must admit i have serious doughts also that this existed. just because shown in a book does not mean it was actually produced as the same for some other examples that are shown in books but never awarded. can anyone post the pic from detlevs book at all please??

A special badge for just one of the sub branches of the SA? Sorry, I don't buy that. What about the SS? There is no special SA sports badge for them and many period pictures depict SS men wearing this award. SA Marines had a special dagger. So did the NSKK, SS, and on and on and on. Comparing special daggers and such a specialized awards is mixing apples and oranges. As I said, where have the examples been over the years? It may have been a proposed award but never manufactured and issued.

Here is a scan from another of Angolia's books, Daggers, Bayonets & Fighting knives of Hitler's Germany, It shows the dagger attributed to the SA marines is actually a special presentation dagger given to high officials by the SA.

                        James!! Thanks for supporting me!

Many known people mention about the dagger and the badge. They even show the photos. But some people do not trust these facts. Besides i show photos of these real things too.

to all: I specialize exclusively on SA as I am a big admirer of SA. I am always glad to share the knowledge about SA.

                        Thanks!

P.S. John R. Angolia's many books are very good! I also recommend his book "Cloth Insignia of the NSDAP and the SA".

The marine SA badge dose exist, it comes with its own type of book. The test required for it were placed around sea faring tests. I have seen a pic of it in wear but unfortunatly did not take a copy. However this is a very rare badge, which good copys have been made.

i do know of SA books with badge belonging to marine personell but each one has only been awarded the normal SA badge not this one as discussed. as far as fakes go i hav't even seen one of those for sale or otherwise. im still happy with my set of four and if evidence that this was an issue piece then i will revaluate my acceptance of such a piece being a award as a general issue piece to the marine section. i accept that daggers were made for such sections as the germans really liked thier daggers but as for the SA marine badge i have seen no evidence to change my view at this time.. some one must have pics or otherwise of the real or even the fake one.. if so please post away

To see a pic of the award doc, see Forman's Guide to Third Reich German Documents, Vol 2. page 293 and 294. Again these are very rare. I have a photo of Oswald Pohl in Marine-SA uniform this clearly shows the difference in the insignia worn by this organisation.
