    Stan,
no need to post your document if it is only an Ausweiss. Although very interesting, probably every W Wi Fu was given a similar set of documents.
I misjudged their importance, and I apologize for thinking your documents were more important than they are.

I have acquired original documents, the actual MerkBlatt (worksheet) for W Wi Fu from 1938 which state:

The W Wi Fus hold the rank of General officers in the Wehrmacht, but don't receive an actual dienstgrade, or salary or compensation as such. They are legally subject to orders as other Officers are. Any complaints they have, can be addressed through the Wehrmacht system of Complaint Orders, which normal soldiers may use.

The document talks about their duties in times of peace and war - and spends a lot of time telling them about how secret their work is, and that they are punishable for treason if they aren't careful about what they are doing.  It directs them what to do if they are out of the country for 60 days or more.

It talks about their duty to fight against price-fixing in times of war, and to instead promote the attitude that everyone should pull together in times of War for the National Defense of the Homeland.

In short, they are working hand in glove with the Wehrmacht, part of the Wehrmacht system, following orders, obligated to make sure armaments production run to schedule, under very strict secrecy, planning for Hitler's upcoming war.....

Lastly - and this is very interesting given how little info there is on the subject - The Merkblatt I own states that -  Mention of W Wi Fus or their companies is absolutely forbidden, the whole matter is Geheim, a state secret....
This could explain why the whole subject is so shrouded in mystery. It was a crime to list W Wi Fus names, the position itself, or the companies associated with them.

Lastly, the 1938 Fact Sheet for the War Economy Leader that I have states that the Abzeichen for W Wi Fu is for Civil dress only, civilian or formal dress - but is forbidden for wear on Uniform!!

I guess that would mean only the stickpin could be worn - ever. At least in Oktober 1938.

      Stan,
I revisited your Ausweiss and associated grouping, and conferred with an expert, and I must admit that there is nothing common about your W Wi Fű document grouping. They are very, very hard to find, and I have never seen any other examples except yours. Congratulations, quite something!

The same expert pointed out to me that the secrecy order regarding W Wi Fűs was rescinded once war began.

I have read that the Wehrwirtschaftsfűhrer in 1938 were only associated with armaments industries. The Merkblatt (work order) I have suggests this is true. So you translation of Armaments Industry Leader is a good one, and War economy leader is a pretty close translation as well.

Later, after the war started, other industries were included in the list for W Wi Fű awards, as the Reich geared up for total war.

I have found three shifts in authority over W Wi Fűs so far that I can document. I think there are more. I will post them soon, if anyone cares to know.

I will also post photos of my Wehrwirtschaftführer grouping, to the Direktor of Rheinmetall-Borsig, in 1938. It includes his appointment document, other documents, and badges.

Then, rather than post here, I will write a magazine article or book on the different Wehrwirschaftsfűhrer badges that are known to exist, the documents associated with them, and the history of the position and the changing authority structures in the Reich relating to them. I will also provide the most comprehensive list of Wehrwirschaftsfűhrer possible, with the help of another expert here on WAF. If anyone wants to contribute something to this effort, I'd be glad to hear from you.

Because no one on this Forum wants to actually have to read all these words! They would rather read it in a book!

      John

I have one of these badges but sadly probably don't have anything to contribute. I have followed this thread with great interest and appreciate the research you are doing. Please let us know if you find additional information.

Thanks for that, Zach! It is nice to know people are interested in this subject.
          It is quite fascinating.

I will keep posting updates as I find them, and I promise I will upload my grouping very soon. I am trying to get the best lighting on the documents for max detail....

After trying several different settings on my camera, with and without flash, I couldn't do these documents justice.
So, I decided to use snips of the photos the dealer used to sell the items to me. They are far better than what I can do. And I'm sure he won't mind, as I am definitely going to buy from Barry Turk again in my collecting future!

Merkblatt, Geheim, very rare, pre-war. Note it is from the same authority, Wehrwirtschafts-Inspektion III, as the appointment document, which is stamped from the same:

Badge and lapel badge from grouping. Lapel badge is marked 900 on back, some of the color has come off the front from wear, letting the silver come through.

Comparison of the first badge I posted to start this thread, and the one that came with the grouping. Identical maker, both aluminum. The badge on the right is from the Rheinmetall-Borsig grouping: note that it has a longer pin, for some reason.

The detail of the lapel pin is great. Does anyone have an image of a tombac version?

                              Joe,
Here is the obverse of a tombac version, courtesy of the Christopher Ailsby collection. Wish I had one in my collection.

Re Ailsby badge, surely this is a fake.
