Gold Party Badge -Deschler -GPB Assistance

    Hi,

I have just acquired this small Deschler Gold Party badge and would just like to make sure (this is my first GPB). I'm still searching to see if I can identify who was issued the badge. Any help or assistance in that regard would be most appreciated. Thanks, Zach

          Hi Zach,

I agree: a beautiful addition to any political collection! This badge was originally issued to NSDAP Member (Pg.) Friedrich Wüst. Treasure it!

          Cheers,

          Br. James

Sorry to disappoint you, but Br. James's list is off. Wüst had 97005.

                Hi Andreas,

That's quite interesting! Will you please send me an email note or a PM citing the source of your information? I'll be happy to share my source with you, of course. As you know, I strive to keep my list as correct as possible, and I know you do too, so this is important to me.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon, my friend,

                Br. James

I currently do not have access to my source. I'd recommend you contact one of the professional researchers:

                        Rob McDivitt
                        Mike Constandy
                        Ross Kelbaugh

Thank you for your continued help and interest. I did contact Mike Constandy and at a glance he said he did not have this number in his database/archive. I have also now sent inquiry to Rob McDivitt.

Where do I find contact information for Ross Kelbaugh? Thanks again, Zach

My list also has Wust with member number 97006. The info was from a mutual source. I will check my files to see if anything more is listed. I would advise you to ask Mike to check the party files for the name and number.

As with all such research which depends on publications for verification, there is always a chance for a typo -- a mis-reading of a number or the spelling of a name, especially when working with publications printed in Fraktur, the German version of Gothic script -- to occur. Typesetting can also be the source of a mistake, as can the use of handwritten documentation, where how a letter or a figure is recorded is left to the interpretation of the editor or the researcher. (Handwriting in Sütterlin schrift was the source of numerous errors during the TR era, and it still is today!) Examples of typos are found in the issues of the DAL, as one source, and the editors of the DAL strove to correct earlier errors from year to year. But some publications only went through two or three editions, and sometimes only one publication, and that makes verification from other source documents so important.

I look forward to reading the further results of your research, Zach, as we all strive to keep our lists as accurate as humanly possible!

                              Br. James
