Hello Belinda, as Pete previously stated in an earlier post originals of this particular Badge are of Cupal construction ( literally the Badge is made of sandwiched metals, often referred to as ‘Cupal’ . In the case of this particular Badge, the Badge consists of three layers of metal, copper/aluminium/copper. The outer Body is Tombak...............Tombak is an alloy consisting of Copper, Zinc, and Tin.......... when the Metal develops a Patina Tombak has the appearance of Bronze. One should examine the badge with an eye Loupe from the side to see if the Badge is of one piece construction, if it is then the badge is more than likely a fake..............if original one can actually see from the edge of the Badge the distinctive lines where the different metals have literally been sandwiched together.
      Regards Martin

The long steel pin on that particular attachment is atypical of what you find on 1950-1960`s German-made badges. Hard to pin it just to that era, as you can still buy them today. (and i have them on Austrian badges from the 60-70`s)

The patina on the obverse is faked anyway. Not that they didn't "fake" - "make look old" patina on badges back in the Hitler days, as they did.... just saying.

I wouldn't want any of these that i have seen so far, not the one in my hand, not this one, not even the one in the museum

But, naturally each to his own. Maybe one day we`ll know the truth
