DVG Pins - Just the Facts Ma'am.

No horse to dead to beat. I want to know facts on the manufacture of DVG pins to determine what is ground truth on W.Redo and RZM M9/312 marked pins.

    Examples of fact:
I took a DVG off a dead German in 1944 and it is marked....
    I got a DVG from a Vet.......
I ground dug a DVG and it is marked.....
I attended shows in the 60's and I saw dozen's and they were all marked.....
I attended a show in the 70's and saw 55 gallon drum full of fake DVG's marked....
In this book is conclusive evidence that states.....
Here is an employee from the factory sitting in front of me....

    Examples of fiction/speculation:
I got it from a dealer who is reputable.
    Well this book says.....
    I know it's good......
That mark does not make sense because......
The vet could have gotten it at a show in the 50's......so

Here is my contribution. I got my DVG marked M9/312 that was contained in a vet's cigar box that contained other original US and German militaria and other personal effects.
    Alitur vitium vivitque tegendo

    Jeff,

The Redo one I posted on the other thread I am sure is original, it came with other insignia, all original, from a veteran's estate.

    Regards,

    Fred

Fairly certain the m9/312 pins are good. I too bought one out of a vet estate where none of the items had been broken up or added to. I'd love to see some period documentation or a picture too. Mine is so nice, easily as nice as any of my finest known-good enamel item. So many exist without a period photo seems odd to me as well.

Hi, your examples of "facts" are all speculation as well. I do realize that many indeed use them as "proof" or as "concrete evidence" - they are mislead souls though, grasping at whats left of the box of straws.

In The Party Badge book, there is mention of these DVG badges, as well as a step-by-step guide to determining authenticity. The conclusive evidence you seek, can be found by looking at the actual item - as described in that book - and not by any story, tale, veteran or woodwork fable.

Ja, but just because the pie looks good....
I know the cover says "steak `n kidney" , but it could very well be "rat `n bladder" - with handmade pastry of course!
