DLV Enamel Member Badge - Need Help

A collector friend of mine has this DLV badge and is considering selling. I like the looks of it, but do not know much about them or the values. Can anybody help me out on them?

Wow, that I did not know. Is it a fantasy item or just a fake?

It's a fake rather than fantasy. The RZM is what's wrong, as with the SS pins these were never RZM marked, plus from what I can see, it looks like the "M" is a lazy one, the legs are spread.

There are other things as well, the pin & attachment etc.....

            Cheers

Thanks Mike and Don. I will relay the bad news to him. I am assuming originals of this badge are pretty rare and fairly expensive.

The real versions of these came both painted and enamel and are very impressive looking badges...I have quite a few of them...they came in hat badge, stickpin, and lapel-hole versions...as well as a type that is about 7 inches long, probably going on a plaque. Here is a picture of some of the pieces I have:

Everyone above is right - the DLV was never under the RZM's jurisdiction, so its shouldn't be marked like that. It should only have a maker's name.

As for value, you used to be able to pick up the stickpin version for $35-$75. I think DLV stuff is still relatively undervalued.

                          Very nice collection John......

                          Jeff,

Not as rare as you may think, nor indeed that expensive, Cone lists the nickel version as common. One turned up on estand before Christmas for about $70 I think, but you do find them for less sometimes.

                          Cheers
                          Don
