If anything, i would say that the black over-painting is a more recent job. i have a cast iron DAF plaque and in comparison the lettering is pretty crisp and readable. It looks to me like yours has sat for a long time corroding in a damp environment to cause that level of pitting and the lettering to crumble apart, then someone attempted to clean it up, probably painted over it with a traditional product like black leading. The surface pitting is UNDER the paint..
I agree... and not every piece was marked "ges. gesch." I think it is good just the aging would lower the price considerably.

I have the same one in bronze, no Ges. Gesch. on back or lettering on reverse.
It does have W.Wolff 33 for the designer in the neck.
No LH on mine, so I guess we can conclude that there are different makers.
LH would be the maker, since designer was Wollf, who LH is is unknown.
I think the plaque that started this thread is a "restored" (painted front) original.

Can anyone tell me what dimensions it should have?
Mine is 20.9 x 31,3 cm; it is marked B and LH
It has another type of hanger which is visible on the front.
Can anyone stat if it is an original?

By the way LH stands for Lauchhammer.
