Not that it's going to solve your mystery but to me the letters look like Fraktur - either an upper case B or a more stylized R with a Z below that. I spent quite some time on Skype today with a friend in Germany trying to figure it out. Sorry I can't add more but maybe it will point you in the right direction.

        Curt,
Yes, this is a tough one. I`ve spent alot of time trying to find out what this is to no avail. There`s gotta be someone out there who has an answer. These are really nicely made pins. The pictures don`t do it justice

As the colours surrounding the pin are black, white red it should be related with the German

Imperial period - pre 1918 or related to an organzisation which comes from this time - even

          existing later.

"Black - white - red" have been the colours of the German Impire.

Could it be a Bahn Schutze pin ? Please ignore my poor spelling and does any one think it could be post WWII. I read the Imperial post.
            Thanks Jack Neeley

I can pretty safely say its NOT post war.

Gerdan is right and I had forgotten to mention the former national colours. You can be fairly sure it is pre Third Reich.

                  pin

If I get a chance, I`ll post the one I have. The only other one I`ve seen was sold at auction for an undisclosed price with no description
