The gems...
SUPER duper early, no ges gesch markings to the reverse planchet. Rarest of the rare, still unappreciated by 98% of militaria collectors. It's like the "old days" (few years back) when nobody cared about round 3 EKs, schinkel EKs, ubergrosse EKs, etc. Hopefully, it stays that way!
Check out the dark ruby red band of the top tomato. Broad obverse borders. Makes you wanna take a "squeeze."
And lookie at the "gaps" to the left one. Swaz is smallish and does not touch inner circle. One "tasty ma ma," as Jim Carey would say.
And yes, the right one is super thick. Unmarked, in zinc. Unheard of you say? "SAY!" ...In the flesh.
Odds are, these were worn by the 1st "100,000." Yes, not necessarily of "uninterrupted and continuous" membership, but one can dream!Last edited by panzerguy; 03-04-2011, 09:52 PM.

M1/155
OK, OK, OK, here is at least one "late" "coat tail" member pin, 1935 and after. Full size, heavy ferrous metal (magnetic) planchet, in not often found opaque enamel. Notice the raised circular platform to reverse serving as a "launching pad" for the pin plate. Rarely encountered maker, "M1/155".
Thanks for looking guys.
God Bless all my fellow whackos of WAF!

Now those have changed my mind about solid opaque backrounds. Nice bunch, and very impressive. Im posting another m1/17 to show the yellowed paint missing from the one on the previous page, as i know the number has been added. There is a goob of cotton on the swas, but im afraid to pick it off, fearing the paint may come off with it.

M1/95 Joseph Fuess
1935, full size 23mm, bronze base metal. One rare bird.
To the average collector, this would be labeled "textbook," a term often abused like the term "mint." As we can see in the original examples posted, there is NO such thing as "textbook" when we consider the countless number of manufacturers of these tasty tomatoes.
I love all variations on these Farty Pins, so one that is of superior craftsmanship as evidenced by the quality of this hand cut die job, this simply deserves the name "Killer"!
One of Adolf's Reich's best.
Only a True Whacko can appreciate.Last edited by panzerguy; 03-07-2011, 11:37 AM.
