I snapped some better pics of the pin. The pin on mine is not soldered about halfway up from the bottom. I cannot tell if this is a manufacturing error or partial damage since it was made.

Yes that's what the other one that I had seen looked like. An unusual pin for a "tinnie," but in my humble experience I've seen several different types of pins and attachments on these 1933 badges. They got it down to a neater system after that, I guess.
