    Fire Brigade Cross

    Hi All,
    I forgot I had this piece until I read chainsawrich's thread: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=41752

Take a look at my pics. I believe this is fake. Strange looking pin.
    Opinions and comments appreciated.
    Thanks.... John

      Hi John,
as far as I know the fire brigade cross 1st class had no markings on the reverse. The pin also looks a little strange to me. However I may be wrong. Just my opinion.

              Hi John,
i have an article here, in which the 1st class cross, that had been shown from Chainsawrich in the other thread is described as the so called "Manila-fake", because it was manufactured in Manila. It has a darker flame-colour than on originals. And the maker mark is exactly like on chainsawrichs cross. I am a bit confused from your piece. The M9/72 mark is missing and the pin and catch are totally different. I can´t really see from the photos, if the colour of yours is different. But the author states, there is no maker named Kolwitz. One with the name Kollwitz exists, but has nothing to do with this kind of products.
              Hope, it helps.
              best,
              Gerd

Forgot to say: This is one of the rarest TR-orders.

Another point to note is the fact that the part of the word Feuerloschwesen at the 5 o'clock position is too cramped, notice how the letter 'L' is obscured.
Also there don't appear (from what i can see) to be any umlauts on the medal.
                      Kind regards,
                      Andy

                          Fire Brigade

Well, now that we know what the fakes look like, we still don"t know what a authentic one looks like. A few words of wisdom or a photo or two from or famous new forum member may be able to shed some light on this. I, for one, am holding one with the M9/72 Kolwitz Bergedoref hallmark. Burgerhaus

I have always been unsure of this one, stamped M9/72 W. Kolwtz Bergedorf. I have looked high and low for makers mark in books with no luck.

                              Here's another questionable Fireman's cross.
Sauerland, If you have a RZM code list for meeting badges M/9 you will find
                              W. Kolwitz listed there, Also reread you cameras instruction book on the proper use of the auto-focus it looks like your having the same problem I had when I first started shooting my badges.
