    The Mysterious Black Corps Badge

    Hi,

Does anyone know the origin of these badges? I would assume they were made in the 50s or 60s, as mine displays a nice patina. This one was well made and has a lot of detail. It looks like something the Outlaws or Hells Angels would have worn on their jackets.

    Thanks,
    Eddie

I think K. Diebitsch would like this one. It has a creepy nice skull.

Did the person who sold it to you know where he got it, as far as its origin? Or was it just something he bought in a deal with no explanation. It does look interestingly different than the usual HA type pins seen.

No, the seller does not know the origins.

Its very nice ...enamels well done, ...never ween the w mark before, but Id say its a keeper even if it cant be atributed. I hope you can get an answer as to what its real origin is, and good luck...even if its not original ww2 manufactured id still keep it if i were you. I like unusual things ...oh i forgot to ask is the markings raised or pressed in(looks raised to me)? Cool find .

A cool looking badge but pure fantasy.

The markings are raised. The W13/42 seemed a little suspect as well. Shouldn't it be M13/42. I have never seen a "W" used before...

I am sure the badge is post-WWII, but it is still quite impressive. Who knows maybe they were made for Odessa.

                  Thanks,
                  Eddie

The guy who made it must have been dislexic, i agree the M should be there. Still a better looking badge then any forum badge. I figure its gotta be worth around 35.00 since its a fantasy piece. Did they nail you more than that for it?

I paid just a little more for it. It is kind of creepy. Looks like something that would have belonged to one of the futuristic droogs in Clockwork Orange.

Very interesting that they wanted registered trademark (GES GESCH) for their fantasy piece.

The rule of thumb is that no SS badges were ever RZM marked.

Im not sure these so called rules are always absolute. They said there were no skulls ss marked, and I got one right from a vet in the 60s right out of his attic, later they faked that exact skull but is different... so Maybe generally that is so, but I am for sure on the skull, and leave the possibility open for future findings. Some of the ss manufacturers had marks like L475/39 rzm so I think in the spirit of openmindedness we have to be careful about absolute rules, as rules were meant to be broken. Anybody agree disagree?.

I think the key is the statement "no SS badges" were RZM marked. Badges were a distinct item from things like cap insignia (skulls & eagles), buttons, buckles, etc.

It is quite true that no "SS badges" (ie: membership or enameled badges) were RZM marked.
