    Hmmmmm!
    George,
Mine different to yours as well, but has the same creamy colour to the background. The one on the "enamels of war" site has what appears to be a white background. I think I've had this one about 15-20 years. Also difficult to tell but is the number "37" a different size as well?
    Yours,
    Wood

I'd say the "37" is different (on yours the numbers are in a straight line, mine aren't) as well as the lettering on the back. Your "Ges. Gesch." has periods, mine doesn't.
Another trait of mine: All of the "Gs", both on the front and the back, look like "6s."

I've also got one that's exactly the same as Wood's. I picked it up in the early '80s. This style appears to have better details and better enameling than the others pictured.

The one also illustrated in Cone's book also has exactly the same details as mine. Erich does your swas. touch the edges of the spade as well?

Yes, the swastika does touch the spade inner edges. It's the twin brother of yours, Wood.

                Erich,
Lets hope they are both OK then, I certainly don't remember enamels being faked in large quantities back then, though I'm sure someone was at it. By the way there is an illustration of the same type in the Assman catalogue (different unit number/name).
Has any other member out there got one of these with a different unit on.
Cone says that many of our type were made, an overorder perhaps or overzelous manufacturer?
Was it Assman made or did they buy it in for resale?Regards,
                Wood

                      Hello,

Sorry George no fake for the riker mount-I will post some more pics of the REPRODUCTION so nobody here will ever get fooled by that one-I sent the seller a polite email explaining that is was thought to be a reproduction and gave him a link to the site and thread (he knew about this site!!) and after a few days he emailed me back stateing that he bought the pin believeing it to be real and would never knowingly sell a fake etc etc-he agreed to refund my money!!-I was a bit suprised as the seller was out of country and not a dealer or collector that id ever dealt with or even heard of before-I figured i was out $30 but nope-Im glad to see there are honest collectors out there!Wood -do you have a picture from the assman catalog you can post?I was under the impression that this unit was the only one with that style pin-the small number of people in a RAD unit meant a low number given out/sold - makeing it a rare pin-Ive never seen one for sale or in ANY collection for any other unit, does anyone have one or know of one in someones collection?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but is "37" the maker? If so, who is it?

                            Rare Pin??

                            Yancy,
I bought mine a couple of years ago from a collector/dealer who had a number of unusual pins and items. At the time, I wrote Ken Jasper about him and Ken stated that he had purchased from him and felt that he was OK. The dealer did state that the pin was scarce and not many were made. Its the only one that I have ever seen for sale.

                              George,
I've been having the same thoughts about the maker of this badge, did Assman make enamels? or perhaps the basic badge to ship out to an exterior enameller, where they sub-contracted completely or just bought in?
Does the number "37" relate on any lists to a specific company?
