Rare Hybrid

I have looked in three different books even my copy Tieste’s 94 catalog and they all show the same type as the one Martin has posted on the left.

Hello James, yes I reckon it is the right hand side one that is the so called hybrid and have only ever encountered one other like it. I can't belive they made such a mistake back in England the pound notes with errors bring a small fortune, sadly I don't think the same principal will apply with tinnies

...I suppose it's all a matter of personnal preference...

...in Tieste's 5th edition books, he mentions that there are two versions 'A' and 'B'...he chooses to show the version which has the date 'upside-down' from the tip of the sword...

...which ever way you choose, the badge has to of course be viewed with the pommel of the sword pointing towards the ground....i.e, the same as the S.A. sports awards and countless other S.A. tinnies which feature the same central design...

...the most heavily encountered version is the one which shows the date printed 'the right way round', from a reading point of view, above the sword tip...

...the other version is easy enough to find, in the short time I've been collecting these gems I've seen both versions at one time or another...but chose the one below as I favoured it over the other version...

...of course, the only way to really know which is considered the correct version is to speak to the people who worked in the factory that made them!....or the S.A.-mann that sold them to raise money for his Sturm...

Hello Chris, well that was just plain mean posting a picture of that cookie thing again....it's a sight for sore eyes to say the least. I was only just getting over the recurring nightmares after seeing it the first time around that is way 'below the belt' exposing us all to that Cookie thing again, some tinnies are just best hidden away especially ones like that I thought nothing in life scared me until I saw that monstrosity

Hello Claymore, some valid points and comments you made. So in point of fact Reinhard is of the opinion the difference was actually intentional in the manufacture to create a variant and is not actually a mistake.
It's also worth considering another possibility...........If it was a mistke, the example which is rare to find might perhaps be scarcer to find due to the fact that the majority of them were destroyed. Just a theory
