Toby is correct that isn't a tinnie but a Gau badge. From what I can see there are a couple in that picture that are not tinnies. The hunting badge with the green border could be a fantasy piece, perhaps a better picture of it please to check.

Tinnies Generic term - 50 Jahr is not a Fantasy piece

Toby, I wish I had known, if you locate another one I would very much appreciate you letting me know

Don, as Ron Manion once stated the word “Tinnie” is a generic term denoting a propaganda Badge most commonly associated with the NSDAP and you will find numerous examples of Gau Badges that are classed as tinnies in Reinhard Tieste, Ron Manion, Ray Cowdery & indeed Rudolf kahl’s reference Books
The hunting tinnie to the left is actually a German hunting Association Badge that is based on a design a pre Third Reich Badge Badge. The main difference been the swastika has replaced the cross in between the horns of the St. Hubertus Stag.

The Hunting tinnie to the right of the DJ Abzeichen is not a fantasy piece and is actually a 50 year German Anniversary Badge of the German hunting Association. Although there exists copies on the market of the Badge

Indeed I've heard mixed comments on these hunting tinnies and that's why put a caveat on my initial posting with the photos.

It would be great to get a definitive answer on these so when I get home I will post better photos of these you requested plus others I've been requested of.

Tony, the two German hunting Association Abzeichens you have are not fanatasy pieces, although having said that the market is flooded with copies. If you could post pictures of the reverse of both Badges, by seeing the backplates and pin assemblies it would be then possible to determine if they are period examples or not.

If it's the RDJ 50 year Jubilee Badge for East Prussia then it is a fantasy/fake. Any serious Jägerschaft badge collector knows that it never existed in this design pre 1945. It is however loosely based on the Deutsche Versuchsanstalt für Handfeuerwaffen badge which is very rare.

The other DJ badges shown here by entasis (the one next to the FAKE) & the wardens badges look to be fine originals.

              Cheers

Although fakes exist of the DJ 50, the 50 Jahre Deutsche Jägerschaft Ostpreussen the badge itself is not a fantasy peice and you can find reference to it in various Books by the world's leading authorities on the subject. I myself have handled three originals and 7 copies. You can see the Badge in Reinhard Tiestes - Katalog der Tagungs Verstaltungs -Abzeichens 1930-1945 Catalogue page 372.

Indeed it is found in many publications as are some other fakes but you won't find it in any book published before the early 1970's when this badge first appeared, nor will you find it in any period publications where the permitted Jägerschaft badges are illustrated. The first fakes of these to appear were even silver marked 800, since then they have deteriated in quality & the latest ones can be spotted easily, but those that are 30+ years old have aged quite convincingly

You certainly seem to enjoy spreading misinformation on this forum, firstly a fake cast aluminium 1933 RPT that you want us to believe is a rare variant, now you wish to promulgate about a known fake hunting badge. All you do by continuing this is line the fakers pockets.

                    Cheers

                      Reinhard wrong too ??

Don, I take it from your statement then that Reinhard Tieste one of the worlds leading expert's is also wrong with the listing in his Catalogue. Your earlier post speculates at it been a fantasy peice and then you change your statement to resolute fact that it is. And how in the world you can authenticate the other two Hunting Badges without seeing the reverse and the pin assemblies is truely astounding. I would appreciate been enlightened on how that is possible. With reference to the Nurberg 1933 Aluminium Badge I think you will find that is an entirely different thread.

Tieste as with other author has made mistakes, it happens.

I speculated that the badge with the green border could be a fantay badge which is why I asked to see a better picture as I couldn't see if it was that version..... I then said that if it was the east prussian then it is a fantasy/fake.

Regarding the other DJ badges I said that "they look to be fine originals", I didn't say that they were.......

                        Cheers

                          Hi Martin
I have a theory about this badge i may be totaly wrong, you may laugh
but it happend to me. I think the pin on your badge has been resoldered
I had a bronze tinny without a pin and a tv repair man was fixing my telly
he was soldering the circuit board so i asked him to solder a pin on my
tinny. he managed it but the result was the tinny turned silver! I have
the bronze version of this badge and the pin like on many tinnys has a
fine grey solder on yours its a blob. Like i said just a theory Martin i know it,s
a bit wacky but there you go.
                          Regards

Hello Don, everyone makes mistakes even you and I I senses our exchanges were becoming a little heated and hope this is not the case. It is not always important who is correct so long as the overall outcome achieves a positive result in determining the facts.

Hello Mametz, a nice though but the HJ Badge has an original elctro plate silver finish. Although heat can effect the colour of the metal.
