    Golden Party Badge-opinions please

    Good evening
I've been looking for a nice xmas gift to myself and found this http://www.emedals.ca/catalog.asp?item=GRC486#bigPic GPB is not really my area, really like the look, comes from reputable source but from what I gather there are a few anomalies according to members with more experience so what are your opinions please?
    cheers
    Matt

Ya thats a bad one...its kinda weird because that website is typically very good in terms of originals.

The seller says: "(Sold with Expert Evaluation/Guarantee, by D. Niemann)" But the Guarantee maybe a fake too.

Yes, I was talking about the certificate, of course. I have seen several of this fakes before.

It doesn't look like any of the Gold party badges that I've seen. I've heard good things about emedals but I suppose it's a reminder that bad stuff is bound to show up in a variety of places.

This one is so bad that a novice would not be fooled. YUCK!

                      golden party badge

Gentlemen, thank you for your opinions, Im really a novice when it comes to GPBs but even to me it looked strange (9 leaves on 24mm badge, lettering and so on) . Well, the search continues...
                      Thanks again
                      Cheers

Roadrunner, Do your research on these badges before you buy. There are a lot of threads that show original badges and Stephen has a great website on fake and real badges. When you locate and purchase an original it will worth the wait.

Thanks Erich, Stephen's site was what made me put the badge up for a discussion here-really good and informative, unfortunately my fears came true on this one but Im sure a real one will turn up somewhere
                          Thanks again

                            Dear all:
The gentlemen from the on-line shop who were selling this badge have sent me an email, very angry, cause they think that somebody can interpret a direct atack to them by my last message.
Please, I hope nobody think so.
I just wanted to warn about the fakes of Niemann´s certificates. He is a famous and very renowned dealer (the best for me) and his name in a certificate is enough to sell a crappy item. Everybody in this hobby knows that this kind of fakes exist and in the same way that a fake badge like this GPA can appear in a good online shop, a fake certificate can appear too. Today the works of art of the fakers are everywhere. But my intention was never to accuse of forger to the seller.
This was the idea which I tried to communicate, but maybe my bad english played against me.
If I´ve made some damage for not explaining better please forgive me, but I think that nobody in the forum have interpreted my words as an accusation to the honestity of the dealers.
Best regards and, once again, my apologys if somebody was offended.

I have just take a look at that dealer site. I like what I see; they sell nice original stuff. I can even imagine that a bad copy of the GPB found it's way to their list. Niemann, for instance, is a highly respected dealer but on his site you find doubtfull pieces too. No dealer can know everything. I find it easy to identify a fake GPB. A year ago that was not the case. If I tommorow have to search for an original Knight cross their is a high chance that I will end up with a stupid fake that every Knight cross expert recognize in no time. It's hard and not easy to be a perfect dealer and it is also hard for a collector to find original pieces between al that bogus, but sometimes convincing crap.

                              Regards, Theo
